On May 1, 2007, (HSW) issued a Request for Expressions of Interest and Qualifications for Master Planner/Urban Designer for the Southwest Waterfront. A total of fifteen respondents submitted their qualifications; five of whom were selected for the shortlist and interviewed on June 21st and 22nd. The diverse group of international firms was interviewed by a team consisting of the (HSW), the Anacostia Waterfront Corporation, and representatives from the District’s Office of Planning, and the Deputy Mayor’s Office for Planning and Economic Development. “We are committed to creating a world-class waterfront along the Washington Channel,” said Neil O. Albert, deputy mayor for planning and economic development and CEO of the Anacostia Waterfront Corp. “And this team is more than capable of bringing the Southwest community’s vision to life.” Ehrenkrantz Eckstut & Kuhn Architects, a New York based firm with offices in Washington, D.C., was selected due to their extensive knowledge of the District and the Southwest site as well as their past design and waterfront experience, including Battery Park City in New York and Baltimore’s Harbor. “We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to work with such a well respected firm and begin the planning and design of the Southwest Waterfront” says Shawn Seaman, Vice President of Acquisitions for PN Hoffman. “This is an exciting project that will transform the District and reconnect the City with its waterfront.” Since 1993, PN Hoffman has been developing extraordinary upscale condominium residences and mixed-use properties in the Washington, DC Metro area. The company is deeply committed to serving the neighborhoods of Washington and has built nearly 30 developments in the City since its inception.
