   
PN Hoffman Donates $35,000 to Cardozo Construction Trades Academy
FOR RELEASE NOVEMBER 30, 2005
Washington DC: PN Hoffman announced today the presentation of
$35,000 to the Academy of Construction and Design at Cardozo Senior
High School. A formal presentation will be at the school on
Thursday, December 1, 2005 at 10:00am.
The Academy of Construction and Design is intended to introduce its
students to a broad range of career opportunities in designing,
planning, building, and maintaining a variety of structures.
Students will initially be provided with a knowledge and
understanding in the areas of carpentry, electricity, and
heating/ventilation/air-conditioning (HVAC). The curriculum is
aligned with industry standards and students will acquire
foundational skills and certifications needed for continued study,
apprenticeships, internships, and employment opportunities post
graduation.
The Academy seeks to maximize the use of the Washington D.C. Public
School System’s resources and the wealth of the national capital
area’s construction industry to bridge the gap between the classroom
and workplace.
According to Monty Hoffman, the Company’s CEO, “in a growing city
like Washington DC, young workers skilled in the construction trades
are in high demand and can build a rewarding career. We believe
there is a real need in DC and the surrounding school systems to
provide additional opportunities for students to learn those skills
and the Cardozo High program is the ideal model.”
The donation was made possible by the Third Annual PN Hoffman
Charity Golf Tournament. Held on October 26, 2005 at Whiskey Creek
Golf Course in Ijamsville, MD, the tournament comprised of 135
golfers who have a working relationship with PN Hoffman.
